If you're using a smart phone, just install a call blocking app for for your device and set it to accept only calls from your contact list and your local area code. On my Android phone, I use an app called Call Control and it has solved the problem. Kind of a brute force approach, but until the CRTC and the Telcos do something about spoofed Caller ID's, it's the only way I found of retaining my sanity.

It was a female on the phone and she asked for me by name - I did not confirm name but asked who was calling 3 times and she then hung up. It sounded like a call centre in the background. I have blocked this number.

Nuissance call. I went through the survey and finally spoke to someone. But the new tactic is that the person on the other end doesn't deviate from their script. If you ask them a question or try to interrupt them they will just repeat themselves. They won't let you ask to be taken off the calling list.
If you call back the number they give an option to be removed from the list. We will see if that works. If not, complain to the feds.
