If you're using a smart phone, just install a call blocking app for for your device and set it to accept only calls from your contact list and your local area code. On my Android phone, I use an app called Call Control and it has solved the problem. Kind of a brute force approach, but until the CRTC and the Telcos do something about spoofed Caller ID's, it's the only way I found of retaining my sanity.

After getting lots of these phone calls, I told the person I'm not the decision maker as to our electricity company so to please stop calling me. He said he would but I kept getting calls. Then I found a blog comment that said to call 866-246-7196. I did and it was for a do not call request service for a small number of companies that call consumers. Just give the caller's phone number to verify it's on their list and the receiving phone number for the do not call list.

Asked how much I usually topped up per month (If it was genuinely Orange, shouldn't they have this info already?). When I said £5 every 4months and I was a very low user he said everything was fine and said goodbye. I suspect they are trying to sell phone contracts.

Is one of the National Firefighters PACs wanting to collect a pledge that I didn't make - asked for my deceased husband who is still on the account. That's a sure sign its a scam or other unsolicited call. And people wonder why I've left him on the account all these years.

Nuissance call. I went through the survey and finally spoke to someone. But the new tactic is that the person on the other end doesn't deviate from their script. If you ask them a question or try to interrupt them they will just repeat themselves. They won't let you ask to be taken off the calling list.
If you call back the number they give an option to be removed from the list. We will see if that works. If not, complain to the feds.
