Request for removing the comment of the phone number

I received a message from "private" telling me I had until the end of business today to call (202) 803-5785. They said I was accused of bank and/or check fraud and they would contact my employer about a warrant and subpoena for court. I called my place of employment and they had already contacted them saying I committed this crime. The information was given to the business owner. DAMAGE DONE although I have committed no crime. I did not call the # in fear that it was a scam that would cost for the call. Instead I did an Internet search of the number to find out that it is a land line located in Washington D.C. I also learned that this # has been used in attempted scams/scams for cash. Some reports say that the callers had their SS #s, bank account #s, relatives #s, addresses, employer phone #s, etc. when they returned the call. Some also mention further threats and harassment when returning the phone call. Others say they are repeatedly harassed by this number. It is quite frightening to know that my private information has been stolen. I made small purchase from Amazon the night before last. Could that be how my information was retrieved? I also recently trusted a friend to burn boxes of personal information.
